Howarth Timber & Building Supplies Harrogate

So, I was out for a walk the other day, you know, just moseying around Harrogate, when I stumbled upon this place that looked like it had everything you could possibly need to build a house... or maybe just fix that wonky shelf in your living room. I mean, who hasn't been there, right? You're standing in your hallway, staring at that pesky shelf, thinking, "I really should fix that." And then, bam! You remember you've got a drill gathering dust in your toolbox. But what about the screws? And the sandpaper? And the paint? That's where Howarth Timber & Building Supplies comes in.

Now, I'm not one to brag, but I've got a bit of a nose for these things. I can sniff out a good hardware store like a beagle on a fox hunt. And let me tell you, Howarth Timber in Harrogate? It's the cat's pajamas. I mean, it's not like they've got a crystal ball back there, predicting my wonky shelf crisis. But they sure do have everything you could need to solve it.

History: From Humble Beginnings to Timber Titan

You might be wondering, how did this place become the go-to for all things timber and building supplies in Harrogate? Well, it all started back in 1946 when a fella named Harry Howarth decided to set up shop. He started with just a small yard in Leeds, selling timber and building materials to local tradespeople. But he had a vision, you see. He wanted to create a place where everyone, from the seasoned builder to the weekend DIY enthusiast, could find exactly what they needed.

Fast forward to today, and Howarth Timber has grown into something quite impressive. They've got over 40 branches across the UK, including our very own here in Harrogate. They've got a reputation that's as solid as the timber they sell. And you know what? They're still a family business at heart. That's something I can really get behind.

What Makes Howarth Timber Stand Out?

So, what sets Howarth Timber apart from your average hardware store? Well, for starters, they've got an absolutely massive range of products. I'm talking everything from timber and sheet materials to tools, fixings, and even those little bits and bobs that you never knew you needed until you saw them on the shelf.

But it's not just about the quantity, it's about the quality too. Howarth Timber sources its products from trusted suppliers, so you know you're getting the best of the best. And if you're not sure what you need, or how to use it, their staff are always on hand to offer expert advice. I mean, they're like the Yoda of the hardware world. "Use the right tool, you must."

And here's something I really appreciate - they're not just about selling you stuff and sending you on your way. They actually care about their customers. They've got this thing called the Howarth Hive, which is basically a loyalty scheme that rewards you for shopping with them. It's like they're saying, "Thanks for choosing us, here's a little something to say we appreciate it." Nice touch, right?

More Than Just a Hardware Store

But Howarth Timber isn't just a place to buy stuff. It's a place to learn stuff too. They run regular workshops and demonstrations, teaching everything from how to use a circular saw to how to hang a door. I mean, I've been known to watch a few YouTube tutorials in my time, but there's something to be said for learning from the experts in person, don't you think?

And let's not forget about their commitment to sustainability. Howarth Timber is FSC certified, which means they're committed to responsible forest management. They've also got a range of eco-friendly products, from recycled plastic lumber to sustainable timber. It's good to know that while we're busy fixing our wonky shelves, we're not doing too much damage to the planet in the process.

So, What's the Verdict?

Well, I think it's safe to say that Howarth Timber & Building Supplies in Harrogate is more than just a hardware store. It's a one-stop shop for all your DIY needs. It's a place where you can find top-notch products, expert advice, and even pick up a new skill or two. And let's not forget, it's a place where you can feel good about supporting a local, family-run business.

So next time you're staring at that wonky shelf, or planning a major renovation, why not give Howarth Timber a try? I've got a feeling you'll be glad you did. And who knows, maybe you'll even run into me there. I'll be the one with the drill, trying to figure out how to use it.
