Howarth Timber & Building Supplies Dewsbury

Ever found yourself in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, wondering where to score some top-notch timber or building supplies? Well, let me spill the beans on a little gem that's been keeping the town's DIY enthusiasts and professionals happy since 1923. I'm talking about Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, a place that's as charming as its name is a mouthful.

Meet the Howarths: A Family Affair

This isn't some faceless corporation, oh no. The Howarths are a family that's been in the timber game for nearly a century. You'll find them behind the counter, on the shop floor, or even driving the delivery trucks. It's like walking into your grandma's house, except instead of cookies, they've got timber and screws.

Now, you might be thinking, "A hundred years? That's like, what, dinosaur times in business years?" Well, yes, it is. But here's the thing: they've stuck around because they're good at what they do. They know their stuff, and they love sharing their knowledge. It's like having a personal timber whisperer.

More Than Just Timber

Sure, they've got timber. Lots of it. From your basic pine to exotic species that'll make your neighbors green with envy. But Howarth's isn't just about the wood. They've got a whole jungle of building supplies, from screws to insulation, tools to work surfaces. It's like a candy store for DIY enthusiasts.

And get this, they've even got a garden center! Yes, you heard it right. So, while you're stocking up on timber for your dream deck, you can also grab some petunias to brighten it up. Talk about a one-stop shop.

Quirky Facts: The Howarth Way

Here's where things get interesting. Howarth's has a few quirks that set it apart from your average hardware store. For instance, they've got a 'Timber Library'. No, it's not a place to check out the latest bestsellers. It's a collection of timber samples that you can take home to see how they'll look in your project. It's like borrowing a book, but with wood.

And then there's the 'Timber Café'. Yes, you read that right. A café in a timber yard. It's not your average hardware store coffee break. They've got homemade cakes, proper coffee, and even a license to sell alcohol. Because sometimes, a project deserves a celebratory pint.

Community Spirit: Howarth's Heart

Howarth's isn't just a business; it's a community hub. They sponsor local sports teams, support charities, and even host events. They've been known to throw a mean barbecue or two. It's like they're saying, "Hey, we're not just here to sell you stuff. We're here to be part of your community."

And the best part? They love a good chat. Walk into Howarth's, and you'll be greeted with a smile and a friendly "Alreet?" (That's Yorkshire for 'Hello', by the way.) They'll listen to your plans, offer advice, and maybe even share a laugh or two. It's like having a cheer squad for your DIY adventures.

So, Why Should You Care?

Because Howarth Timber & Building Supplies is more than just a place to buy stuff. It's a piece of Dewsbury's history. It's a family business that's stood the test of time. It's a place where you can get expert advice, top-notch products, and maybe even a slice of cake. It's a place that cares about its community and its customers. And isn't that something worth talking about?

So next time you're in Dewsbury, pop into Howarth's. Say hi to the Howarths. Grab a coffee. And who knows? You might just find your next DIY inspiration. Just don't blame me if you end up spending half your day there. I warned you.
