When Is London Marathon Ballot Announced

Alright, so you've decided to take on the big one, the London Marathon, eh? You've laced up your trainers, you've been pounding the pavements, and now you're chomping at the bit to know if you've got a spot in this iconic race. Well, grab a cuppa, get comfy, and let's chat about when the London Marathon ballot is announced.

Mark Your Calendars

Picture this: you're waiting for your best mate to confirm plans for your birthday bash. You've been dropping hints, sending subtle reminders, but they're still playing it cool. Sound familiar? That's pretty much what waiting for the London Marathon ballot announcement feels like.

The ballot results are usually announced in October, around the third week. It's like that moment your mate finally texts, "Alright, I'm in! Let's do this!" But unlike your mate, the London Marathon doesn't keep you in suspense for too long. They're pretty punctual about it.

Why the Wait?

You might be wondering, "Why the long wait, London Marathon?" Well, imagine you're trying to organise a massive party (like, 40,000 people massive). You need time to sort out the guest list, make sure everyone's got a place to stay, and plan the route so no one gets lost. That's what the organisers are doing while you're twiddling your thumbs.

They've got to sort through 400,000 applications, and that takes time. Plus, they've got to make sure everyone's eligible, no cheats allowed! So, while it might feel like an eternity, it's all part of the process.

What If You're Not Picked?

Alright, so you've checked the results, and it's not looking good. You're not alone, mate. Thousands of us are left disappointed every year. It's like when you find out your favourite band is playing, but you missed out on tickets. Gutted, right?

But don't let it get you down. There are other ways to secure your spot. You could run for a charity, or try again next year. Remember, it's not about the ballot, it's about the run. And if all else fails, there's always next year's party to look forward to.

Keeping You in the Loop

Now, you're probably wondering how you'll find out if you've been picked. Well, the London Marathon folks are pretty good at keeping us in the loop. They'll send you an email with the good news (or not-so-good news), and you'll also be able to check the results on their website.

And if you're one of the lucky ones, congratulations! You've just joined an elite club of runners who've taken on the challenge of a lifetime. But remember, with great power (or in this case, a marathon spot) comes great responsibility. You've got some serious training to do!
