Watford Harris Grocery Flies Rotting Veg

Watford Harris Grocery Flies Rotting Veg

So, I was wandering down to Watford Harris Grocery the other day, you know, just your average trip to grab some dinner ingredients. I mean, who doesn't love a good old grocery run, right? Sigh, the glamour of adulting.

Anyway, I'm strolling down the veggie aisle, eyeing up those juicy tomatoes like they're the last ones on earth. I mean, who can resist a good tomato, am I right? But then, oh boy, I saw something that made me do a double-take. I mean, I've seen some questionable produce in my time, but this was next level.

There, in all its rotting glory, was a fly. A whole fly. Not just a little one either, we're talking a big, fat, buzzing fly. And it wasn't alone, oh no. It was chilling on top of a pile of, well, let's just say 'questionable' veggies. I'm talking wilted spinach, brown bananas, and tomatoes that were so soft, they looked like they'd been through a war.

Now, I'm no expert on fly behavior, but I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to be hanging out on our food. I mean, isn't that what those fancy fruit bowls in fancy hotels are for? I swear, I've seen flies living better than some people.

So, I'm standing there, staring at this little fly party, and I'm thinking, 'What do I do here?' Do I grab a nearby broom and start swatting? Do I call the manager? Do I just turn around and walk out, never to return to Watford Harris Grocery again? The options were endless, and none of them were great.

But then, I had an epiphany. I mean, it was a small one, but it was something. I whipped out my phone - because, let's face it, we all use our phones for everything these days - and I snapped a pic. I mean, who wouldn't want to see a fly chilling on some rotting veggies? It's not every day you see something like that, right?

Anyway, I sent the pic to the Watford Harris Grocery Facebook page. I mean, if they can't see the state of their veggies, then who can? I figured, if nothing else, it would give them a good laugh. Or a good scare. Either way, I'd done my part.

So, I left the fly and its friends to their party, grabbed some tomatoes from the other end of the aisle - you know, the ones that weren't being used as a fly hotel - and I headed home. I mean, I could've sworn I heard the fly say, 'Bye, Felicia!' as I left, but that might've just been my imagination. Or maybe it was just the sound of my own conscience telling me I'd done the right thing.

Anyway, the moral of the story? Always check your veggies, folks. And if you see something, say something. Or at least, snap a pic and send it to the grocery store's Facebook page. You never know, you might just make their day. Or their year. Or at least give them a good laugh. Just, you know, try not to make it a habit. No one wants to be 'That Guy' who's always sending pics of rotting veggies.

Until next time, folks. Stay safe. And stay away from fly hotels.
