The Gym Group Plymouth Laira Bridge Photos
So, there I was, pounding the pavement in Plymouth, trying to outrun the rain that seemed to be chasing me like a mischievous puppy. I'd been meaning to check out this new gym everyone's been raving about, but you know how it is, life gets in the way, and suddenly it's been six months since I last set foot in a gym. Anyway, I finally found myself standing in front of The Gym Group Plymouth Laira Bridge, wondering if it was too late to turn back and claim I'd never seen the place.
But then I noticed something that made me pause. The gym was open, and not just that, it was busy. It was a weekday, late afternoon, and the place was humming like a well-oiled machine. I could see people of all shapes and sizes, grunting and groaning (in a good way, I assume) as they lifted weights, ran on treadmills, and cycled like their lives depended on it. It was like a real-life version of one of those fitness infomercials, but without the cheesy music and over-the-top claims.
First Impressions
I pushed open the door, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The place was clean, bright, and modern, with a friendly receptionist who greeted me with a smile that was almost convincing enough to make me believe she was happy to see me. The gym was laid out in a way that made it easy to find what I was looking for, and there were even a few pieces of equipment I'd never seen before. I felt a sudden urge to try them out, just to see if I could figure out how they worked.
Must Read
But before I could get too carried away, I noticed something that made me do a double-take. There, in the corner, was a row of photos. Not just any photos, mind you, but selfies. And not just any selfies, but selfies of people working out. I mean, who takes a selfie while they're in the middle of a workout? Apparently, everyone at The Gym Group Plymouth Laira Bridge.

#GymSelfie: The New Black?
I leaned in for a closer look, and that's when I saw it. A sign that read, "Share your progress with us! Take a selfie, tag us, and use #GymSelfie." I couldn't help but laugh. I mean, I've seen some crazy things in my time, but this was a new one. I decided right then and there that I had to try it out. I mean, how often do you get the chance to take a selfie while you're working out and have it displayed for the world (or at least, the people at the gym) to see?
So, I grabbed my phone, struck a pose (well, as much of a pose as you can strike while holding a dumbbell), and snapped a selfie. I tagged the gym, used the hashtag, and sent it off into the ether. I have to admit, I felt a little silly at first, but then I saw someone else take a selfie, and then another person, and another. By the time I was done with my workout, there were at least a dozen new selfies on the wall.

More Than Just a Gym
As I was leaving, I couldn't help but feel like I'd stumbled onto something special. Sure, it was a gym, but it was also a community. A place where people could come, work out, and share their progress, not just with their friends, but with everyone. It was like a big, sweaty, slightly competitive family, and I have to say, I kind of liked it.
So, if you're in Plymouth and you're looking for a gym that's more than just a place to work out, I'd definitely recommend checking out The Gym Group Plymouth Laira Bridge. Who knows, you might even see your selfie on the wall. Just remember, no duck faces. This is a gym, not a nightclub.
