M25 Crash Causes Long Delays For Drivers Near Dartford
So, there I was, cruising along the M25, windows down, tunes up, enjoying the rare moment of traffic-free bliss on our beloved motorway. I was thinking, "Today's my lucky day!" Little did I know, my luck was about to take a detour, quite literally.
As I approached the Dartford area, the traffic started to stack up like pancakes on a Sunday morning. Now, I'm not one to complain about a bit of congestion - it's the M25, after all, it's practically a law of nature that it's going to be busy. But this was different. This was bad.
What Happened?
Turns out, a little further up the road, there'd been a bit of a kerfuffle. A multi-vehicle crash had brought the motorway to a standstill. You know how it is, one car sneezes, and the whole motorway catches a cold.
Must Read
Now, I'm not pointing fingers here, but I've got to ask, what is it with people and their driving? I mean, I've seen better parking jobs at a supermarket car park than some of the manoeuvres I've witnessed on the M25. But I digress.
How Bad Was It?
Bad enough that the Highways Agency had to close a couple of lanes to deal with the aftermath. Bad enough that the delays stretched back for miles. Bad enough that I started to wonder if I'd make it home in time for tea.

But hey, at least it gave me a chance to catch up on my podcasts, right? I mean, who needs to be on time when you can learn about the history of the potato?
What Can We Learn?
Well, apart from the fact that potatoes are more interesting than you might think, we can learn a few things about driving on the M25. Like, maybe leave a bit earlier if you're planning on going anywhere. Maybe keep a safe distance from the car in front. Maybe, just maybe, don't drive like you're in a video game.

And hey, if all else fails, at least you can join the M25 Book Club. I mean, have you seen the amount of time people spend stuck in traffic? There's got to be a better use of that time than scrolling through social media, right?
So, What's the Moral of the Story?
Well, folks, the moral of the story is this: the M25 might be a pain, but it's also a fact of life. We can't change the traffic, but we can change how we deal with it. So, next time you're stuck in a queue, take a deep breath, turn up the tunes, and remember - it could be worse. You could be stuck in a traffic jam and listening to my podcasts.
