Little Girl Wants To Be A Wombie For Halloween

Little Zombie in the Making

So, there you have it, folks. My little munchkin, Lily, has decided she wants to be a zombie for Halloween this year. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Zombies? Isn't that a bit... gruesome?" But hold your horses, let me paint you a picture.

Imagine this: Lily, all of five years old, with her pigtails and freckles, declaring with all the seriousness of a United Nations resolution, "I want to be a zombie, Mommy." I mean, it's not like she's asking to be a chainsaw-wielding maniac or a serial killer. We're talking zombies here, the ones that shuffle and moan and eat brains, but only in a friendly way.

Why Zombies, You Ask?

Now, I was curious too. So, I asked her, "Why a zombie, sweetheart?" She looked at me like I'd asked her why the sky is blue. "Because, Mommy," she said, "they're slow, and they don't hurt anyone. They just want brains, and I know where to get some!" I couldn't help but laugh. She had a point. At least she wasn't asking to be a sugar-crazed trick-or-treater, right?

Plus, let's face it, zombies are kinda cute in that scary-but-not-really way. I mean, have you seen those zombie plush toys? They're adorable! And Lily's zombie costume? It's going to be more 'aww' than 'boo'. We're talking a tattered dress, some face paint, and a sign that says 'Brains, please'. I mean, who can resist that?

Zombie Prep: The Art of Shuffling

Now, we've been practicing her zombie walk. You know, the one where you shuffle your feet and drag your arms? It's hilarious. She looks like she's trying to walk on hot coals while juggling bowling pins. But she's getting the hang of it. I've even caught her shuffling around the house when she thinks I'm not looking. I swear, she's enjoying this way too much.

And the moaning! Oh, the moaning. She's been practicing her zombie moan too. It's like a cross between a cat in heat and a foghorn. I've had to shush her a few times when we've been out in public. People were staring, but I could see the laughter in their eyes. I mean, who doesn't love a kid having fun?

Halloween: The Big Night

So, there you have it. This Halloween, we'll be out there, Lily shuffling and moaning, me trailing behind her, making sure she doesn't trip over her own feet. We'll be the ones making you smile, or at least chuckle, as we pass by. Because at the end of the day, isn't that what Halloween is all about? A little scare, a lot of laughter, and a whole lot of fun?

And who knows? Maybe next year, she'll want to be a vegetarian zombie. Now that's a challenge I'm not ready for!
