How Much Do The Lionesses Earn

Let's Chat About the Lionesses' Payday, Yeah?

So, you've been wondering, "How much do those fabulous Lionesses take home?" Well, grab a cuppa, let's dive in!

First Things First: The Big Prize

Imagine you're in a massive, global football tournament. You're playing for your country, and you win. Big time. Like, World Cup final big. Now, you're not just playing for pride, but for a serious cash prize too. The FIFA Women's World Cup 2019 had a total prize money of $30 million. That's right, thirty. Million.

Now, let's say you're the winning team. You'd split that pot among your squad. The USA team, who took home the trophy, shared it among their 23 players. That's around $1.3 million each. Not bad for a summer's work, eh?

But Wait, There's More!

Winning the World Cup isn't the only way the Lionesses rake in the dough. They also get paid for representing England in other tournaments and friendlies. The Football Association (FA) doesn't disclose individual salaries, but we can make some educated guesses.

Let's say they earn around £20,000 to £30,000 per game. That's not too shabby for a 90-minute kickabout, right? Now, if they play around 20 games a year, that's a tidy sum of £400,000 to £600,000 annually. That's more than your average Joe, but remember, these ladies are at the top of their game.

Why Should You Care?

You might be thinking, "That's all well and good, but why should I care about the Lionesses' earnings?" Well, let me tell you, it's not just about the money. It's about equality, visibility, and inspiration.

For years, women's football has been in the shadows of its male counterpart. But the Lionesses are changing that. They're breaking records, smashing stereotypes, and inspiring a new generation of girls to kick a ball and dream big. And when they do, they deserve to be paid what they're worth.

So, the next time you see the Lionesses on the pitch, remember, they're not just playing for glory. They're playing for equality. And every time they score, they're scoring a win for all of us.

Now, who's ready to cheer them on?
