So, you're curious about the crème de la crème of the Great British Bake Off, huh? Let's grab a cuppa and dive right in, yeah?

Where it all began

Remember when GBBO first aired back in 2010? We were all just a bunch of biscuit-loving Brits, eager to see who could whip up the best Victoria sponge. Little did we know, we'd be hooked for life!

And so, our journey begins with the first ever winner, Ed Kimber. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Ed who now?" But back then, he was our golden boy, baking up a storm with his signature Union Jack cake. Who knew that was just the tip of the iceberg?

From bread to showstoppers

Fast forward a few seasons, and we've got Joanne Wheatley taking home the trophy in 2011. Joanne was our queen of bread, churning out loaves that would make Mary Berry proud. And let's not forget her showstopper skills – that caramel cake was enough to make anyone weep.

Then came John Whaite in 2012, proving that men can bake too. John was all about those intricate designs, pushing the boundaries of what we thought was possible with a bit of dough and some icing. His winning showstopper? A 3D peacock cake. Yes, you read that right – a 3D peacock cake!

When it got serious

But then, things started to get serious. In 2013, Frances Quinn wowed us with her whimsical bakes, inspired by everything from fairgrounds to seaside holidays. Her winning showstopper was a giant picnic basket, complete with edible blanket and sandwiches. I mean, come on, how could the judges resist?

And then, just when we thought it couldn't get any more impressive, along came Nadiya Hussain in 2015. Nadiya's story was one of courage and determination, and her bakes were out of this world. That Big Fat British Wedding cake? Iconic. Life-changing, even.

When the tent got a makeover

Now, you might remember that GBBO had a little... hiatus. But don't worry, it was only to give the tent a fresh lick of paint and find us a new presenting duo. And boy, did they deliver! Sophie Faldo was our winner in 2017, wowing us with her perfect pastries and stunning showstoppers.

But then, in 2018, something extraordinary happened. Rahul Mandal won us all over with his charming personality and incredible bakes. Remember that melting mousse cake? The one that had us all on the edge of our seats? Yeah, that was Rahul. He's proof that patience and practice really do pay off.

And then there were... three

And so, we arrive at the most recent winners. In 2019, David Atherton took home the trophy, proving that age is just a number when it comes to baking. David was our mature student, learning as he went along, and we couldn't help but root for him.

Then, in 2020, we had a trio of winners – Peter Sawkins, Laura Adlington, and Loriea Biscuits. Yes, you read that right. For the first time ever, there was a three-way tie! And let's be honest, after the year we'd all had, it was the happy ending we all needed.

So, who's your favorite?

Phew, that's a lot of winners! But now it's your turn – who's your favorite GBBO champion? The one who made you gasp in awe, laugh in delight, or cry in sheer relief when they finally won? Let me know in the comments below!

And remember, no matter who you choose, they've all got one thing in common – they've baked their way into our hearts. Until next time, happy baking!
