Denzel From Only Fools And Horses

Alright, mate, gather 'round. I've got a tale to spin about a bloke named Denzel, yeah, Denzel Washington, the one and only. Now, you might be thinking, "What's he doing in a story about Only Fools and Horses?" Well, grab a cuppa, 'cause I'm about to drop some knowledge bombs that'll make your ears flap like a pair of Del Boy's dodgy trousers.

Denzel, the Unlikely Trotter

Picture this: it's the late '80s, and Denzel's just starting to make waves in Hollywood. He's fresh off the boat from America, and he's got his sights set on the big time. Now, you'd think a fella like him, with all that talent and charisma, would be rubbing shoulders with the A-listers, right? Wrong!

Our Denzel, he's got a soft spot for the little guy. He's not one for the glitz and glamour, no, he's more of a Trotter's End kinda bloke. So, when he gets the chance to appear in an episode of Only Fools and Horses, he jumps at it like a seagull at a chip wrapper.

Denzel's Trotter Transformation

Now, you might be wondering, how does a Hollywood heartthrob like Denzel end up in a British sitcom? Well, it all starts with a bit of a mix-up. You see, the show's producer, John Sullivan, was looking for a black actor to play a small part. He wanted someone with a bit of presence, you know, someone who could hold their own against the Trotters.

Enter Denzel. He's in London, he's got time on his hands, and he's got a bit of a twinkle in his eye. He thinks, "Why not give it a go?" So, he sends in his CV, and before you can say "Lovely jubbly," he's landed the part of a smooth-talking American businessman.

Denzel Meets the Trotters

So, there's Denzel, standing on the set of Only Fools and Horses, ready to meet the Trotters. Now, I don't know if you've seen the episode, "Time on Our Hands," but it's a classic. Denzel's character, Carl, is a smooth-talking Yank who's trying to sell the Trotters a dodgy watch. And let me tell you, the chemistry between him and the boys is off the charts.

Denzel's got the charm, the wit, and the timing of a proper Trotter. He's giving it his all, and the boys are lapping it up. Del's trying to out-con the conman, and Denzel's just playing along, having the time of his life. It's like watching a masterclass in comedy, it really is.

Denzel's Impact on the Show

Now, you might think that Denzel's appearance was just a one-off, a bit of a novelty. But no, mate, it was so much more than that. You see, Denzel's performance in that episode is often cited as one of the best guest appearances in the show's history. And that's saying something, considering the likes of Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst were regulars!

Denzel brought something special to the table. He elevated the comedy, he played off the boys beautifully, and he left his mark on the show. And let's not forget, he did it all while juggling his burgeoning Hollywood career. Now that's what I call multitasking!

Denzel's Legacy

So, there you have it, the tale of Denzel Washington, the Hollywood heartthrob who became a Trotter for a day. It's a story that's full of laughs, a bit of luck, and a whole lot of talent. And it just goes to show, you never know who you might bump into in the world of showbiz.

Next time you watch "Time on Our Hands," remember to keep an eye out for Denzel. He might just steal the show, and he'll certainly leave you with a smile on your face. And who knows, maybe one day, Denzel will grace our screens again, this time as a proper Trotter. A bloke can dream, can't he?

Until next time, folks, cheerio!
